This course covers basic concepts relevant to wastewater treatment and applies them to common wastewater laboratory techniques (e.g. the BOD test, solids tests, microscopic identification, MPN).

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Concepts and skills learned include, microbe types, bacteria growth and metabolism, lab safety, identifying and performing common wastewater lab tests, understanding why each lab test is performed, understanding the rational for each lab tests methods, and understanding Quality Assurance Quality control measures.
