WW6. 190 Intro to Environmental Tech

Introduces students to field of environmental science, pollution control, and environmental technology. This course will provide the basic understanding of the normal ecology of the planet and the risks associated with pollution of our the environment. Sources of environmental pollution and control technologies including safe drinking water, wastewater treatment, air pollution, solid waste, and hazardous waste management are covered.

Required: Students must be registered in the Water, Environment and Technology Program to register for this course. Prerequisite: WW6. 170 Introduction to Public Works and MTH 060 Introduction to Algebra with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
This course will give the students a beginning knowledge, vocabulary and background to begin to make critical decisions concerning the pollution of the environment. Critical skills learned will include, knowledge of the impact of pollution on the environment, knowledge of federal and state regulations concerning pollution control, knowledge of technological options for pollutions control, understanding of the tradeoff, risks, and socioeconomic impact of environmental pollution and control.
