OTA 161 Fieldwork Seminar

This course allows for individual reflection and group discussion of occupational therapy practice issues while students are gaining experience in Level I Fieldwork. Emphasis is placed on tying theory to practice. Additionally, students undergo further orientation to and preparation for Level II Fieldwork.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Apply Occupational Therapy Practice Framework to OTA level I fieldwork experience. Express confidence and demonstrate competence in analyzing activity and grading activity in OTA level I field work. Reflect on and discuss select occupational therapy practices concepts and issues observed or experience in level I fieldwork, including safety, ethics, and communication. Apply Clinical Reasoning to OTA level I fieldwork experience. Describe the ongoing professional responsibility for developing future occupational therapy practitioners, e.g. by serving as a fieldwork educator.
