This course provides the opportunity to explore the concept of professionalism, and to develop foundational skills, behaviors, and attitudes for a successful career as an occupational therapy assistant.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe his her personal attributes including attitudes, behaviors, and skills as they relate to the profession of occupational therapy. Demonstrate understanding of the impact of soft skills on obtaining employment, maintaining employment, and advancing in the field of occupational therapy. Demonstrte understanding of professional expectations for how one present oneself in the field occupational therapy e.g. related to hygiene, attire, body language speech. Demonstrate understanding of professional expectations for how one conduct oneself in the field occupational therapy e.g. related to integrity, responsibility, kindness, respect. Compare and contrast predominant characteristics of select generations in the workplace. Identify common characteristics of successfull teams.
