OTA 160 Level I Fieldwork

Provides students the opportunity to observe occupational therapy in one or more settings, and to participate in select aspects of the occupational therapy process. Students begin to integrate theory learned in the classroom with practice observed in the workplace. Particular emphasis is placed on observation, communication, and professional attitudes and behaviors.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Establish professional relationship with client. Gather information from a variety of sources, including health records, interview, and observations. Collaborate with occupational therapists on intervention planning. Communicate effectively and appropriately both in person and in writing. Adhere to ethical standards, including confidentiality. Display professional behaviors, including accountability. Demonstrate awareness of cultural diversity.
