MA3. 407 Mathematics for NC Machinists

Provides mathematics training for NC machinists and programmers. Scientific calculator functions, basic algebra, right angle trigonometry, geometry and the Cartesian coordinate system as it applies to CNC machining will be covered.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Understand mathematics notations used in technical writing. Use a scientific to perform calculations. Understand the concept of Algebra well enough to solve equations and simplify mathematical expression. Solve word problems involving proportionality. Use trigonometry to solve right tringle problems. Understand fundamentals geometric constructions. Know which mathematical concepts to apply when solving word problems related to NC part programming. Use the Mathematical for Machine Technology textbook as a helpful reference to solve problems not included in the scope of this course.
