PBT 190 Phlebotomy Practicum
This course allows students to gain a practical Phlebotomy experience while participating in a supervised learning experience in a health care field. Students complete competencies and work a specified number of hours during the term in preparation to sit for the national ASCP examination upon graduation. Required: Admission to the Phlebotomy program.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Perform venipuncture on a patient with proper technique using a vacutainer. Perform venipuncture on a patient with proper technique using a syringe. Perform a finger stick on a patient with the proper technique. Perform a heel stick on a patient with the proper technique. Perform an arterial blood gas with the proper technique and patient care. Demonstrate effective communication techniques with patients, family members, and colleagues using verbal, written, and information technology tools/devices.
