APR 103 Elec Generator/Motors/Control
Introduces students to AC and DC generators and alternators. The study of the theory, design and construction of both single-phase and three-phase generators and alternators is included. Students are also introduced to semiconductor control devices and PLC programming.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Understand and describe the proper operation of common types of AC and DC motors and generators. Safe, effective use of specific motor generator test equipment and calculations to diagnose problems with motor or generator and take corrective actions. Describe the common forms of mechanical and semiconductor electronic motor and generator controls. Connect a basic motor control circuit including auxiliary seal in contacts. Identify and describe the functions of PLCs and PLC components as they relate to the industrial environment.
