This course focuses on drug distribution systems, record management and inventory control, and ambulatory and institutional practices. Students will learn how hospital and retail pharmacies operate. Required: Admission to the Pharmacy Technician program.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Input pharmacy data into a pharmaceutical database. Prepare pharmacy records. Differentiate between hospital and retail pharmacies. Identify inventory control processes. Prepare prescription information under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Identify problems in the filling of prescriptions and alert the Pharmacist. Describe the process required for collecting, organizing, and evaluating information for direct patient care and medication use review.
