Identification of trees, shrubs, vines, and ground covers used in landscape horticulture. Basic plant taxonomy, nomenclature, anatomy, and use of plants in the landscape. Diverse plant material covered with an emphasis on spring flowering trees and shrubs.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify landscape perennial plants, including shrubs, groundcovers and small trees by common and botanical name. Describe landscape design characteristics and morphological plant characteristics for the landscape plants covered in this course. Summarize horticultural uses and habitat requirements for the landscape plants covered in this course.
