BI 233 Human Anatomy & Physiology

The third term of an introduction to the structure and function of the human body. This course is of particular benefit to students in the health professions and physical education, but is valuable to others interested in the anatomy and physiology of the body. Focuses on the lymphatic system, respiratory system, urinary system, fluid and electrolyte balance, digestive system and reproductive system.

Prerequisite: BI 232 Human Anatomy and Physiology with a grade of C or better. This course includes a laboratory component.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, digestive, and reproductive system structure and be able relate it to its function. Use appropriate terminology to effectively communicate information related to anatomy and physiology. Recognize the interrelationships between and within physiological systems. Recognize the principles of homeostasis in a physiological system. Evaluate case based scenarios effectively using knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
