WD4. 291 Aws Structural Code for Welders

Required course for 2nd Year Welding and Fabrication Technology students. This 1-credit course familiarizes the Welding and Fabrication Technology student with select concepts and areas of the American Welding Society D1.1 Structural Welding Code including inspection and weld acceptability criteria, qualification and use of Welding Procedures, welding and fabrication practices, and use of prequalified weld joints.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Understand basic select concepts of the American Welding Society D1.1 Structural Welding Code. Understand and use terminology used within and as applied to the A.W.S.D1.1 Structural Welding Code. Evaluate his or her own work and or the work of others in comparison with D1.1 Code standards for acceptability. Use applicable tools including use of a fillet weld size gauge. Understand the conceptual and practical differences between the qualification of a Welding Procedures and a Welders Qualification.
