SPN 215 Spanish for Heritage Speakers II
This class is the second part of a three-course sequence specifically for the needs of Spanish heritage speakers. The main goal is to improve their reading, writing, grammar and speaking skills, while fostering critical thinking and deepening their understanding and appreciation of Hispanic cultures in the world and within the United States. All classroom interaction occurs in Spanish.
Prerequisite
Required: Spanish native speaker or heritage speaker (grew up speaking Spanish at home); completion of
SPN 214 or instructor's approval.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Communicate more effectively in standard Spanish appropriate to university and professional setting. Improve their vocabulary and ability to write narrative and descriptive texts. Become more skilled at presenting their ideas through the spoken word. Have a better understanding and appreciation of their cultural and linguistic heritage through the study of literary works. Read actively and think critically.
