OA 101 Legal Practices, Procedures, & Terminology I

Students examine procedures required for administrative support in legal or judicial office setting. Legal document formatting and legal terminology are introduced. Focus on required work ethics and privacy concerns in legal setting and examine Oregon Rules and Civil Procedures in relation to various areas of civil criminal law.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Function as a member of a team in a legal office setting. Format a variety of professional-quality legal documents including pleadings, complaints, wills, interrogatories, subpoenas, billings, and contracts. Demonstrate understanding of required ethics, privacy, and client needs. Demonstrate understanding and use of Oregon Rules and Civil Procedures. Demostrate understanding and use legal terminology.
