HV3. 132 Advanced Mobile Hydraulics

This course covers advanced hydraulic theory along with service and repair of valves, pumps, motors, and connectors used in mobile equipment hydraulic systems. Systems design and modification will be covered. Machine systems will be learned using hydraulic schematic drawings. Common customer concerns with specific heavy equipment and their solutions will be learned. Operational check-out and laptop computer testing of heavy equipment will be performed in labs, as well as repair and adjustment and electronic controls.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Visually inspect a piece of heavy equipment for leaks, fluid levels, missing or loose hardware, cracks, noise and vibrations noted during operational checkout procedures. Read and apply understanding of hydraulic schematics to test, diagnose, repair, and or adjust hydraulic systems and components. Find and perform procedures from electronic service manuals that pinpoint the trouble causing a customer concern about machine performance. Diagnose problems using a laptop computer, and demonstrate use of proper service procedures repair, replace and or adjust.
