HDFS 248 Learning Experiences/Children

Focuses on understanding how children learn and develop. Create quality, age-appropriate curricula, which include planning, implementing and evaluating materials and activities that promote language/cognitive, motor and social/emotional development. Emphasizes how to evaluate and integrate subject matter and internet sites for curriculum development and effective use of available materials and resources.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Analyze early childhood classroom environments and teacher behaviors that facilitate childrenäó»s development and learning. Plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities to promote childrenäó»s physical, cognitive and social/emotional development. Apply developmentally appropriate concepts to practical situations in the early childhood classroom.
