DA5. 510 Office Practicum

The dental assisting student is provided with work experience that places practical application of all clinical skills in community dental offices. A total of 256 hours in two separate general dentistry offices. Emphasis is placed on the individualäó»s ability to work in a dental health team setting with minimal direction.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
The student is now actively engaged in putting to work all aspects of chairside assisting and to function in a dental setting. The student is working 32 hours per week in a dental office applying theoretical knowledge in a practical work situation, anticipating needs of the doctors, strengthening personal skills and work habits that allow one to be successful on the job. As result of this class, the student should be able to get a job based on their knowledge and skill dependent on employment availability.
