CJ 250B Capstone: Regulations & Communication
The second of two capstone courses in the Criminal Justice Department. The first half of this course will feature speakers from various law enforcement and corrections agencies; review of Oregon statutory law and Oregon Administrative Rules as they relate to law enforcement and corrections professionals; examination of the Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT); background investigations; OSHA and general workplace safety; dealing with the public, and; legal liability of law enforcement and corrections professionals. The second half of this course is designed to assess and improve writing skills and to provide instruction on writing professional police reports, memoranda, and documents used in the courtroom. May be taken concurrently with CJ 250A. This course must be passed with a grade of äóìCäó or better.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe those events that disqualify an application from work as a law enforcement and correctional professional. Describe the scope of job responsibilities for various law enforcement and correctional professions. Describe the types of legal liability faced by law enforcement and corrections professionals and the nature of liability that may be imposed on employing agencies as a result of individual misconduct. Write at the level expected by law enforcement and corrections agencies. Prepare police reports and other professional documents accurately and with all essential content.
