CJ 201 Juvenile Delinquency

Explores delinquency in American society. Theories, families, gangs, and a study of youth violence help provide students with an understanding of the social and institutional context of delinquency. Students work cooperatively as team members to teach others in the class about a research topic related to a juvenile delinquency issue.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify the leading theories of juvenile delinquency. Identify the historical development of delinquency theories. Identify how juveniles have been treated throughout history. Identify factors which contribute to delinquency, youth violence, and gangs. Identify alternative treatment for juveniles. Students will also be an active team member working cooperatively to teach other class members about a research topic relative to a juvenile delinquency issues. Students will complete their research paper utilizing computer program such as Wordprocessing, and conduct their research by incorporating both library and the internet.
