ART 263 Digital Photography

Introduces digital imaging as an expressive medium. Covers the capture, editing and printing of photographic images in the digital environment, including scanning, image manipulation software, and photo quality output. Emphasis on technique, composition and creative expression. Computer lab work included.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Successfully expose, download and edit a digital image. Operate a flatbed scanner for opaque and transparent materials. Set up and use a photo quality digital printer. Accomplish basic to intermediate digital image manipulation techniques. Interpret and engage in the art of photography, making use of the creative process to enrich the quality of life. Critically analyze values and ethics within a range of human experience and expression through analyzing digital images to engage more fully in local and global issues.
