ART 131 Drawing I

Emphasizes the development of perceptual and technical skills needed to describe 3-D objects on 2-D surfaces. Exposes students to conceptual and technical art references and encourages students to think critically about art and expression as an integral part of learning to draw.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Apply appropriate vocabulary in written and oral critiques of artistic works. Demonstrate competency in applying a range of value with black and white drawing media. Construct a drawing showing spatial depth using the principles of linear perspective. Illustrate basic forms with black and white drawing media. Interpret and engage in the Arts & Letters, making use of the creative process to enrich the quality of life. Critically analyze values and ethics within a range of human experience and expression to engage more fully in local and global issues.
