Offers students the opportunity to explore emerging and potential areas of practice in occupational therapy. Students develop basic skills for assisting with research in occupational therapy. Required: Admission into the OTA program.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Generate and propose ideas in contribution to the development of occupation-based programs for clients in community-based settings. Describe a plan to promote occupational therapy and advocate for consumer access to its services. Demonstrate following a research protocol to ensure data is collected and information is documented in an accurate and confidential manner. Examine and determine one's personal and professional abilities and competencies as they relate to job responsibilities. Create a personal professional development plan to stay current on evidence-based research findings and changes in standards of practice.
