Prepares the student to properly chart, document and organize information for the medical record. This course prepares the student to use effective communication in the surgical arena with patients and surgical staff.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate body language and other nonverbal skills in communicating with patient, family and staff. Use medical terminology correctly to document patient encounters. Demonstrate effective communication techniques for patients, family members, and health care personnel using verbal, written, and information technology tools/devices.
