CRS 101 Coding I

This course introduces students to the concepts important to medical coding. The primary three goals of this course are to teach diagnostic coding and the ICD-10 manual, procedural coding manual familiarity (CPT and HCPCS), as well as coding compliance and regulation.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe how to use the most current procedural coding. Define upcoding and why it should be avoided. Describe how to use the most current diagnostic coding classification system. Describe how to use the most current HCPCS coding. Perform procedural coding. Perform diagnostic coding.
