Introduction to how the past is studied by archaeologists. The history of archaeology, archaeological theories, and archaeological methods will be discussed and explored in multiple contexts., emphasizing visual and hands-on learning.

Gain an introductory knowledge of what the nature of archaeological data is. Explore how archaeological data are collected using modern field methods. Demonstrate a basic understanding of how archaeological data are studied using various analytical techniques. Apply archaeological theory to interpret past human cultural behavior.
