NUR 102A Introductory Medical-Surgical Care
The second nursing course in the lecture series. Explores further roles and responsibilities of the nurse in the perioperative and medical-surgical settings. Prepares students to engage in the planning of nursing care for those clients with common pathophysiological and psychosocial problems found within medical-surgical nursing. Required: Admission to Nursing program.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Discuss the multidisciplinary team member roles and responsibilities of nurses within the perioperative environment and the collaborative work of safety. Identify and explain priority problems, risks, and nursing actions for clients in the perioperative, acute, and non-acute care environment. Identify and describe potential health problems or complications related to the care of clients with pathophysiological and psychosocial problems. Discuss health promotion and education with pathophysiological and psychosocial problems common to the medical-surgical setting.
