MUS 273 Audio Engineering III

The third course of a three-course sequence. Develops the tools to work and function as a recording engineer in a live or studio recording environment. Includes advanced multi-track recording, sampling musical instrument digital interfacing (MIDI) and recording, studio and rehearsal etiquette and preparation, selecting a recording format, console logistics, initial tracking, overdubbing, compression techniques, EQ techniques, signal processing, console automation, mixing, and mastering. Offered Spring term only.

Completed MUS 272 with a grade of C or better

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate ability to utilize, mix, and master audio. Demonstrate advanced multi-track recording techniques. Demonstrate techniques such as EQ adjustment and overdubbing.
