MUS 232 Group Piano V

A continuation of MUS 231 Group Piano IV, provides advanced group piano instruction in piano skills designed for music majors. Includes more advanced instruction in improvisation, minor scales, and whole tone scales.

Student must complete MUS 231 with a C or higher, or instructor approval

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Play natural, harmonic, and melodic minor scales in all keys.

  • Improvise a melody using the chord tones of a piece.

  • Play and identify modes, chromatic, and whole tone scales. 

  • Read and play innovative notation, such as note clusters.
