MUS 213 Aural Skills IV
Provides a continuation of MUS 115, with the goal of improving the ability to reproduce what is seen on the page and write down what is heard, as well as listen with greater discrimination. Covers melodic and harmonic dictation, error detection, sight-singing, rhythm study and comparative listening. Music majors should also register for MUS 221 concurrently with this course.
Prerequisite
MUS 115 with a grade of C or better.
Corequisite
Music Majors must take
MUS 221 concurrently with this course.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Compare and contrast similar musical examples and determine differences. Interpret and record melodic and harmonic examples. Illustrate intermediate sight-reading skills and rhythmic study. Vocalize the rhythm of a given exercise while conducting the tempo in mixed meter patterns. Sing a melody while accompanying.
