CAT 234 Clinical Externship CT

Provides a externship experience designed to develop, apply, critically analyze, integrate, synthesize and evaluate concepts and theories in the performance of computed tomography procedures through structured, sequential, competency-based clinical assignments.  Covers concepts of team work, patient-centered clinical practice and professional development. Includes patient care and assessment, competent performance of computed tomography exams and total quality management.
Critical thinking and cultural competency is emphasized.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Develop and apply concepts and theories in the performance of computed tomography procedures in a hospital/clinical setting. Complete computed tomography exams accurately and provide quality images while protecting patients, self and others utilizing principles of radiation protection. Describe and demonstrate an overall comprehension and application of the best practices as a computed tomography technologist.
