Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technician program is a 41 credit program that prepares students to work in the operating room as an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings. The program prepares students to sit for the national certification exam required for licensing in the State of Oregon. The mission of the program is to prepare competent entry-level surgical technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.

The program is offered as an online program with a required practicum component. A 360 hour practicum work experience including 120 cases is part of the training. This practicum takes place at area hospitals and clinics. Students are responsible for transportation to and from their practicum sites.

Curriculum is based on the standards established by the Association of Surgical Technologists.
